I hate to break your techie bubble but Google couldn't care less if you are human or a machine. This "automated query" problem is not a problem. I've read a lot of complaints about getting the "We're sorry" message then getting blocked. Everybody assumes it is about the search engine or some rankings software. Bull!! It happened to me in a Google group of which I was a legal member and all I was doing was browsing the archive of group messages. I've also seen people doing other things unrelated to search engines but there is one thing we all have in common..... browsing multiple querys.
If your name was Google and were faced with increasing demand with pressure to spend millions on more hardware you are faced with two choices. Spend millions which cuts profits or reduce traffic. How do we reduce traffic without angering the very people who are responsible for the traffic increase. We suggest that some unknown party, a virus or spyware has infected your computer and in order to protect googles software we must block you. After you block all of the people causing the excess traffic new hardware doesn't need to be purchased. After you have gone through 1 or 2 extended blocks you are so gun shy that your multiple querys are greatly reduced or eleminated. Google has pulled the wool over everyones eyes.
